Meet Indy Gateway!
What happens when a banker, a state representative, and a school superintendent see each other frequently at Westside meeting and events? They discuss untapped potential in an area dear to their hearts and decide to take action. This was the beginning of Indy Gateway.
Karlee Macer, state representative for the Westside of Indianapolis, Rick Proctor, VP at BMO Harris and President of the Westside Chamber of Commerce, and Jeff Butts, Wayne Township Schools Superintendent saw the Westside, particularly the Washington St. Corridor, as a blank canvas. With our Indy’s award winning, nationally recognized airport minutes away as inspiration, they reached out to Lisa Bentley to help make their vision for that area a reality.
The vision of Indy Gateway is to facilitate and drive community and economic development on the Westside. Their first project is transforming 3 vacant lots into two homes directed towards first time home buyers. They have enlisted the help of many Westside businesses, including Area 31 Career Center at Ben Davis High School, B&W Plumbing and Heating, FedEx, Probuild, and Lowes to build these houses. The first home will be complete by the end of the school year. You can check out the progress of this amazing community project at 5139 Melrose Avenue.
During race season, many race fans find it difficult to find somewhere to park, or even stay. So why not stay in a home with the race track right round the corner?
Rhonda Schwartz answers this very question by buying a home, revamping it , and listing the home for rent on Airbnb. Race fans from all over can now have the comfort of staying in a cozy home and be at the track to watch the race before you can say “On your mark, get set, go!”
The home is located on lovely Presto Drive, 46224.
